Impact on Public Sector the NHS
Public sectors mold our daily life in many circumstances for example police they provide security and ensure there are order and justice. Schools they provider education, which is important in making society knowledgeable and updated. NHS ensure people they have healthy well-being. Social welfare provides the society with current information on the social wellbeing and concern with solving social problems. Public sectors that exist in the society have a various impact on the society. The majority of the impacts are positive although some are a negative impact. Most of the services in public sectors they are provided by the government in not- profitable basis. The public sector aim in improving the livelihood of the public by providing most of the basic needs at a subsidized cost that public can afford. The paper is a report of the impact of NHS as public sectors in East London line in England Europe continent. NHS is major public sectors in London since almost every person come across it in many junctures of their lives.
NHS for many years provides the basic health care to all. It has been successful in mitigating most of the health problem experienced by majority member of the societies living in the east London. In the year, 2014 NHS was the best among the ten-heath care system in the European continent. The ranking was done by Commonwealth funds, which declared the system as the most impressive compared to another system of health care in other nations in Europe. The rating of NHS was due to its efficient and effective service delivery, outstanding safe care, patient-centered care, cost effective care and its emphasis on equality (Anon 2015). NHS is celebrating its 69th anniversary this year. NHS is supposed to celebrate its breakthroughs in the sector of health as well as its latest strategy of involving technology and innovation in all the health care system they provide to the general public living in East London as well as the other parts of the country.
NHS was formed after a century discussion of having a health care system that would provide equitable health care services for the long run. The NHS was formed in London during political turmoil across the world due to the impact of the Second World War. Britain was one of the major players of the war of its public sectors were run most notably the health sector. Moreover, there was increased number of a casualty of war most having the terminal illness like mental problems and physical disability. These groups were in need of fundamental and sustainable health care to enable them led a normal life. In 1948, NHS was formed because of five burning issues in society at that time. These issues were poverty, disease, squalor, ignorance, inactivity (Anon 2015). Since then NHS has achieved greatly in medical knowledge, pharmaceuticals, and technology. NHS in eastern London ensures that the U.K government has been able to achieve universal health care to all, even at the grassroots level.
NHS it has many of impacts to the people of the eastern London mainly based on the improvement of the health care. NHS improved the health of the aging population living on the East London line. NHS in the eastern London it made a remarkable impact in the diagnosis of diseases as soon as possible. NHS enacted various prevention and control measures used to mitigate the major health problems. The life expectancy in London increased to 73.6 in women and 73.3 in male in London due to the effectiveness of the NHS. The diseases used to kill many people 70 years ago have been cured and prevented by NHS via the use of vaccines and immunizations. This means the majority of the population in London lives a healthy life for many years that make their life expectancy to increase (Today’s NHS). NHS established clinics in various hospitals and public places for the management of long-term diseases such as diabetes, heart diseases, and kidney conditions that concern the society a lot.
Lifestyle factor is a more concern of the people living in London city. It is one of the major industrialized city in the world where almost everything is automated. The majority of the people in London they live sedentary lifestyles which predispose them to many of controllable health risk. The majority involve in the bad habit of excessive consumption of alcohol, smoking lack of physical exercise and poor dieting. NHS encouraged residents of London and its outskirt to live a healthy lifestyle of taking more than enough vegetables and fruits, doing regular physical exercise and providing rehabilitation and counseling to alcohol and substance addicts (Today’s NHS). By doing so, the rate of overweight children reduced considerably among the children. In 2015-health report, the rate of overweight and obesity in London was 58.5%, which was much lower to the average national rate, which was 62.9%.
NHS has made people living in London to have positive public expectation toward the health system. The perception of people living in London changed due to NHS increasing awareness to people on the healthcare services provided. Providing quality and sustainable healthcare to people made many people embrace the healthcare system and trust on the kind of care provided to them. NHS improved the health service in various ways such as increasing the life expectancy, improving maternal health, increase birth rates and lower infant mortality rate. NHS also improved accident and emergency department in various health facilities in London. NHS brought modern equipment such as x-ray scanners and stretched to the department so that it can be able to deal with the accident and emergencies (Today’s NHS). The majority of the patient and their acquaintances appreciate the quality of services provided by NHS.
In the 21st century, massive technological changes are experienced in almost all circumstances in life. For any public sector to remain effective, it must embrace the dynamics of technology. Health sector it is the most affected by the technology since the day in day out there is new things discovered ranging from pharmaceuticals, vaccines, predisposing factors, diseases, and causal organism. NHS adopted the modern standard of information and technology to ensure that all the health facilities and services meet the needs of healthcare to all in the 21st century (McKenna 2016). NHS led to huge advancement in medicine and surgery, information and technology, innovation, data entry and management, monitoring and evaluation techniques in all health facilities in East London. Utilizing new technology by NHS reassure quality health care and well-being to the population of East London.
NHS also has the negative impact on both the population of East London line as well as the whole London at large. Since NHS is a non-profitable organization that mainly depend on money from the government, it led to the raising the cost of living for the majority of people living in the United Kingdom.The UK government fund for the delivery of universal health care through NHS and other healthcare institutions. It is mandatory for every employee in U.K to have a health insurance. The health insurance deducts the considerable amount of money from the salary that every person gets every month depending on job group and type of insurance premium (McKenna 2016). The insurance premium keeps escalating from time to time, increasing the cost of living whether one is healthy or not. The government uses some of the taxpayers’ money to recover some debts of health organization such as NHS. Financial crisis experienced by NHS in East London is due to; rising cost of services, innovation, technology advancement, payrolls of the staffs, energy and other supplies. If the NHS financial crisis will not be solved immediately, it is feared it will not be able to repay it its debt leading it to be unsustainable. If the current crisis continues, NHS will have debt amounting to thirty billion pounds nationally.
The latest reports show that NHS providers had a nine hundred million pounds shortage in initial three-quarters of financial year 2016/17 (McKenna 2016). The report indicates NHS is struggling to meet the budget of all the health facilities in East London. In some areas, NHS is performing poorly due to financial constraints. Many media company are suggesting that that NHS should squeeze its budget so as its services to be sustainable which has a negative impact on the quality of health care provided to the patients. Currently, NHS is under critical financial pressure, and the patient is increasing which make NHS unable to function effectively in some areas.
Public sectors they are very important in our daily life where they provide most of the basic services such as health, security, education, and social wellbeing. The report indicates NHS is the major providers’ of universal health wellbeing in east line London. NHS it has many of the positive and negative impacts on the community and the society around London. The positive impacts it has are improving aging population health, improving maternal and child health, enhancing positive perceptions among members of the population, improving technology and controlling lifestyle diseases. The negative impact of NHS in London are rising the cost of living and compromising the health.
